On Sunday 7th April The Cobra Car Club of Victoria in conjunction with the GT40 Club of Australia, visited The Old Aeroplane Company in Tyabb. We had a slightly chilly meet in Braeside for a coffee at 9am, and then a short straight shot cruise down to Tyabb. The Old Aeroplane Company is a privately owned fantastic collection of working and under-restoration vintage aircraft. Members were treated to a tour and explanation of this private facility, with some fanstic history being explained. We saw the vintage Kittyhawk warbird fly, and the Mustang had its mighty Packard Merlin engine run up on the tarmac, unfortunatley at the (literally!) last minute it could not fly after an electrical issue was discovered. Perfect weather and fantastic aircraft nostalgia was capped off by a BBQ across the airfield. Thanks to the GT40 Club for the invitation and to our CCCV organisers and helpers!
