Thankfully we woke to a mostly rainless sky with humidity but minimal threat of the thunderstorms which have been ever present in Melbourne for a few weeks. About a dozen Cobras gathered at the Westgate FSC for a drive briefing from our conveyor Dale. We headed off on the Geelong Road with our tour leader opting for the shortest route to morning coffee at Little Creatures brewery complex in Geelong where we added two extra Cobras to our convoy. The historic former mill complex is worth a visit and offers great cobra parking and lots of beer tasting options.

Following a fine morning coffee stop we headed along the Barwon Heads Road to Barwon Heads and across the bridge to Ocean Grove with a detour through Wallington and along the Bellarine Highway into Queenscliff for lunch at the Queenscliff Brewhouse.
After lunch, participants elected to drive back to Geelong and three cars boarded the ferry to Sorrento which provided a sun filled an easy trip to the Mornington peninsula.

Thank you to Dale for your effort and energy in planning a great day.

Mornington Peninsula Cruise and Lunch 2019

A cool morning with sunny clear sky greeted us at the BP Penlink at Baxter together with the shiny new Victoria Police 5 series BMW highway patrol car and crew. Lots of the usual public interest in the 24 Cobras gathered for the 2019 Mornington Peninsula Cruse. The highway patrol gave us best wishes for a great day.

We headed to the coast road at Mornington to enjoy the spectacular beach and water views along the winding road to Dromana. After regrouping we drove up the challenging Arthur’s Seat road and through to Red Hill, Merricks and the Red Hill bakery at Balnarring for morning coffee and sample some of the many cake and pastry offerings.

After a quick photo opportunity for our hosts we proceeded in full sunshine via Shoreham, Point Leo, RedHill and Main Creek towards Flinders through some of the most scenic areas the Mornington peninsula has to offer.

The “corkscrew “ is a favourite of the Cobra drivers when heading towards Cape Schanck which we passed on the way to St.Andrews Beach and then on to Rye Beach and along the coast road to Sorrento.

The Hotel Sorrento provided us with secure carparking and a few drinks and a great lunch for nearly 50 of us to complete a fantastic drive.
Thanks to our respective hosts for morning coffee and lunch.

A great opportunity to enjoy driving a Cobra with great weather , roads ,scenery, food , drinks and friends!
