Saturday 28th March witnessed a grey morning with drizzle falling in parts of Melbourne, but a clear BOM radar! The northern suburbs of Melbourne were spared the drizzle however and we had a good number of Cobras.
Club members assembled first at Roaring Forties showroom and factory in Thomastown. We were treated to a tour a GT 40s in various stages of construction, and a sample of engine options for these classy sports cars. A short drive eastwards delivered the line of mostly blue cobras to McDonald Brothers Racing where we observed another highly professional automotive fabrication business. Each of our host were very generous with their time and information. With dark skies still threatening rain we headed to the Panton Hill Hotel via Diamond Creek enjoying some winding roads and a more rural setting. The pub fare was appreciated by all, and members made their way home after lunch and a chat. A great club run with a few members thinking about minor upgrades to their Cobra or maybe a new GT 40! Thanks to Mic and our generous hosts for making it a great day. Andrew Rodda |
Drysdale |

Cobra owners are often invited to car shows and the recent Drysdale Auto day on the Geelong Bellarine Peninsular was one of the larger events I've participated in for sometime.
Five Cobra members joined the Hundreds of cars and bikes on display at this recent event, after a casual drive down the Geelong Road. A fund raiser for the local Drysdale Cricket Club saw the admission by donation a great way to start what was a very community driven event. The teams partners wandered the grounds selling raffle tickets when they were not in the many food outlets selling a mix of very reasonably priced homemade food. This Drysdale event has grown over the last two years and will soon be the Bellarine Peninsular's own version of the Picnic at Hanging Rock. A fantastic well priced day that benefits the local Drysdale cricket club. The farewell from team members on the gate - "thanks for coming, see you next year" - was a nice ending to a great day that I will attend next year. Bernie |
